- Job description- This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and innovative engagement advisor to play a crucial role in the development and delivery of our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) projects. The drive to create more resilient catchments and in some cases adapt to how things are currently done has never been greater given the challenges our changing climate and increased flood risk will bring.
Working in our Witham Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) team, you’ll play a leading role within project teams designing, planning, and delivering a variety of engagement activities, to ensure engagement is accessible, inclusive, and delivered in partnership with others.
We are looking for an engagement advisor to work across two important projects on the River Witham and River Slea in the first instance. This include developing the story telling and narrative linking with the broader Fens 2100+ initiative ensuring we truly and effectively engage with those who live and work in these catchments.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You’ll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team- Partnerships and Strategic Overview teams focus on four areas - evidence (data, modelling/mapping), strategic overview and planning (overview of flood risk from all sources and tactical direction), project development and delivery (including with other Risk Management Authorities) and regulation (e.g., planning consultations and flood risk activity permits). We aim to create more resilient catchments so flooding causes less harm to people, results in less damage and those affected can return to normal more quickly.
- Experience/skills required- You will be an accomplished communicator with experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders, being able to build relationships and collaborate at all levels. Managing difficult situations and conversations whilst being comfortable in the face of challenge is also important to this role. You will have a positive can-do attitude and the ability to drive your own work forward independently, as well as bringing others with you in supporting delivery of required outcomes. Outstanding organisational and multi-tasking skills will be key to managing and prioritising multiple activities at the same time across different projects.
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

- Experience in driving behaviour change
- A good understanding of customer service, EA policy and our statutory duties
- Experience with large numbers of stakeholders
