We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Principal Duty Engineer to join our team to ensure that a duty holder structure for Electrical Safety is embedded into the business.

You will report to Senior Project Manager and will travel within the Northern Engineering Network. You will be providing the business with technical and non-technical advice on all matters relating to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Northern Safety Management procedure (SMSP) for Electrical Safety. You will also be supporting the training team with the development of training material and also a competence module.

**Role Responsibilities**

Your main duties include but not limited to:

- The delivery of Duty Holder structure, review of qualifications, training and competence of those involved in the EAW structure, such as Senior Authorised Persons, Authorised Persons, Appointed Persons and Nominated Persons.
- Identify hazards associated with Northern engineering activities and lead the development of generic or specialised risk assessments which address the key risks to the business and others who may be affected. Develop and facilitate the introduction of relevant control measures identified in risk assessments and lead periodic systematic reviews to ensure they remain suitable and sufficient.
- To ensure the design, installation, operation and maintenance of site electrical systems and equipment is carried out safely and without danger. To allocate work to competent persons as appropriate.
- Compile and manage the delivery of the annual audit plan to assess the effectiveness of adherence to the safety management system.

**About You**

You should be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential:

- HNC (or recognised equivalent) in Electrical Engineering field
- Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
- Technical experience and expertise in electrical infrastructure maintenance techniques and principals
- Experience of traction and rolling stock electrical installations
- Management skills experience - they must be able to influence people at all levels of the business.
- Experience in leading Electrical duty holder structures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
