With a strong commitment to craftsmanship and design, we make all of our products in the North West to the highest of standards.As we continue to expand and scale our manufacturing operations in the North West of England, we are seeking a talented contract Sewing Machinist to join our team and help us in planning for this new phase of the business. Piece work, out work and work from home are all possible. If office based, we are in the south Lake District.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew fabric pieces together, ensuring precision and adherence to quality standards.
- Follow detailed instructions, patterns, and specifications to assemble têxtile products such as curtains, cushions, bedding, and other home furnishings.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure finished products meet Avalon Home's standards for design, construction, and durability.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
- Troubleshoot sewing machines, promptly reporting any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in the cutting and preparation of fabric pieces, ensuring accurate measurements and minimizing waste.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements, cost-saving measures, and quality improvements.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support training and mentoring of junior team members, when required.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the têxtiles industry.
- Proficient in operating industrial sewing machines, including single-needle, overlock, and coverstitch machines.
- Strong knowledge of different sewing techniques, fabric types, and garment construction methods.
- Ability to interpret and follow detailed instructions, patterns, and specifications accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet production deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines in a manufacturing setting.
- A genuine passion for têxtiles, craftsmanship, and creating high-quality products.

**Job Type**: Temporary contract
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: £15.00-£25.00 per hour
