I am a very happy, bright 53-year-old male living in Walton on Thames. I am very chatty and happy, have a dry sense of humor and I really enjoy a laugh and a bit of banter. I have secondary progressive multiple sclerosis with other conditions connected to this. I am currently in a wheel chair. I can transfer from this to the bed or chair but require support to do so I am weak on my left side due to my MS however will do my best to help to transfer

I enjoy a variety of different things a from going out for lunches and coffee to relaxing watching a film and TV. I also enjoy listening to music and quizzing you on your knowledge particularly 80’s music or magic FM

I live at home with my wife ( who is very involved in my care ) and our dog Doug who is a big part of our lives. He is an 11 month old puppy and full of life

My other interests include music, police programs. I enjoy watching murderer in the village and horror movies. I also enjoy watching the boarder force Tv programs.

I have had both Covid vaccinations and generally remain in good health.

Summary of Duties

Duties would include:
All aspects of personal care including helping with catheter care and manual handling (all training will be included)
Supporting with taking me to appointments. These could be general health appointments or to the Samsung centre once a week for physio.
Support all personal care including catheter and Peristeen care ( shadowing and training will be included)
Support with nutritional meals.
General companionship.
Accompanying me with community access
Support and encouragement to try new things and different activities.
Support with general house hold chores.
Some over night stays to offer my wife respite when required.
You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.

The Person They Are Looking For

You should have a genuine interest in supporting people. You should be able to provide high quality care and support as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

You can be male or female

You need to be willing to attend to all varieties of personal care and learn new skills.

You need to be able to use your initiative and assist me with a achieving my personal goals in life and promoting my daily independence.

You need to be bubbly and chatty. I like to joke around with people.

You should be hardworking, reliable, honest, and patient and be truly committed to the role.

You will need to be physically fit as you will be required to me involved in my moving and handling

Flexibility is essential as extra hours will be available to cover holiday and sickness.

Experience in a caring role and personal care is desirable but not essential.

Someone who is willing to encourage and prompt to try new activities.

You need to be reliable and dependable and have a kind, calm and gentle nature.

A willingness to go on holiday or do over night stays.

To enable to be to be as self managing as possible to promote my independence

Follow COVID guidelines and wear PPE when relevant

Pet friendly people are required due to our dog.

Applicants must be available and flexible between Monday to Sunday. We are looking for full time hours of 37.5 however can be part time if needed. Shifts can vary dependent on the clients needs.
