StocktononTees, United Kingdom Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth Full time

**30 hours per week, term time only plus 5 PD**

With a proud tradition of serving the community of Stockton-on-Tees, Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is a small-sized school with a big heart. We are part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the highest performing trusts in the country.

Our vision is to put students first in order to raise standards and transform lives. To make this happen, we innovate constantly, including a curriculum that is designed to enable personalised learning in depth and with breadth. We ensure that additional teaching time and resources are provided to support students to leave with a solid foundation of good and better grades.

With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic talent equally and focus on building transferable skills that result in real-world success. We are also an ‘enhanced mainstream school’ providing an outstanding education for young people with physical and/or sensory needs. We aim to instill British Values: a passion for democratic participation, individual liberty, mutual respect, and difference and diversity, backed by a commitment to taking responsibility for one’s own conduct and progress. By empowering students to take ownership of their learning, we can create tomorrow’s leaders as well as responsible, caring and engaging citizens.

Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth seeks a Specialist TA to take responsibility for Reading and Literacy interventions. This is a newly created position for the 22/23 academic year.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with members of our Inclusion Team and will require the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning. A key focus will be to support student intervention and increase student’s ability to access all areas of the curriculum. You will embed and develop literacy and numeracy skills, working proactively with other members of the Inclusion Team to improve attainment, by adopting a personalised approach towards planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum.

Examples of work includes:

- Taking responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
- Assessing the needs of students and using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students educational progress and attainment.
- Delivering intervention programs to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the department staff.

We believe that all support staff within our Family of Schools are key in securing student success and ensuring professional development opportunities is part of our transformation model.
