- The post holder will form close working relationships within the Adult Cancer Therapies Team along with the wider Acute Therapy Service at UCLH.
- To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients, significant others and carers
- To communicate to the therapists, and other members of the multi-professional team, changes in the patient’s condition, response to intervention and relevant discharge plans.
- To work without direct supervision, but under the direction of a qualified staff member.
The Acute Therapy Service at UCLH is a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking department who are enthusiastic and passionate about providing high quality care to patients from all specialties. Our staff are committed to service development and continuously improving patient experience through quality improvement projects, research and engagement with patients. We are proud of what we have achieved and celebrate this through staff recognition events and awards.
Clinically the department is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Support Staff, who are divided into small specialty therapy teams which join with similar specialties for education, training and service development. There are extensive opportunities for staff training with internal courses and funding for external courses. We support opportunities to showcase work at national and international conferences.
Creating an inclusive and welcoming work environment is a key priority for us. The department aspires to be a warm, friendly and supportive place to work, enabling all staff to maximise their potential. We encourage staff to contribute to these priorities through departmental and Trust staff groups.
