BAND 3 Therapy Assistant
**Fully time**: 37.5 hours
Fixed Term Contract - 1 year
Islington Additional Needs and Disability Team (IANDS) is a multidisciplinary service for children and young people aged 0-19 years.
We are seeking a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our team. The successful applicant will work across The Bridge School Primary and Secondary sites in Islington, supporting the Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. The Bridge is an outstanding school for children and young people with severe learning disabilities, the majority of whom have a diagnosis of Autism.
You will support students in achieving individual goals through assisting with running individual or group sessions, creating resources and supporting the Therapists with delivery of therapy and health care.
You will work alongside a team of experienced health care professionals including nurses, health care assistant, clinical psychologists. The Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists will provide training and support for all occupational therapists and full training and support will be provided by a Speech and Language Therapist.
The Therapy Assistant will work as a member of Special Schools Team and will be responsible for assisting in the effective delivery of individualised support and care to children undergoing assessment and receiving interventions from Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists at The Bridge School. She/ he will undertake clerical and clinical duties as directed to provide a health service to children and young people across special schools.
The post holder will be split between the Bridge Primary and Secondary sites. Dependent on need, there may be times when the Therapy assistant is required to work in other teams or departments within the service.
MAIN DUTIES
**Role Responsibility**:
- To be a member of the Special Schools Team and share information with team members as directed and appropriate, keeping confidentiality at all times.
- To maintain accurate records through accessing the electronic notes system (currently Rio), filing and organisation in accordance with Whittington Health guidelines.
- Form professional relationships with children, families and Education Staff and communicate with them in a way that respects their views, autonomy, and culture.
- Liaise with other agencies involved in the child’s care, including relatives and carers, as appropriate to the child’s needs, as directed by team members.

**Clinical Responsibility**:
- To support the Therapy Team with production of Therapy resources which may include therapy programmes, stretching or positioning programmes, communication resources, social stories, visual schedules, or low-tech communication resources.
- To assist the Therapy Team with the implementation of therapy programmes working either individually or in groups with children and young people with supervision
- To support Therapists with assessment and review which may include gathering information through classroom observations, or questionnaires.
Administrative Duties
- To keep up to date records on clients following Service Policy.
- To attend relevant staff and service meetings.
- To assist with administrative duties across the special schools, such as answering the telephone, photocopying, and filing when requested, uploading documents, archiving and assisting with data management, and maintaining data bases.
- To assist the team with co-ordination of on-site clinics from tertiary services (e.g. Orthotics/ Wheelchair Services)
- Assist in keeping equipment clean, safe and secure and assist with ordering supplies including stationary when required.
