London, United Kingdom University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking to appoint aHead of Centre for Cancer Outcomes (CCO)to lead an exciting portfolio of health informatics work, improving cancer outcomes for the population of North Central London.

The CCO is a semi-autonomous team which sits alongside the North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA). Its purpose is to produce whole system quality metrics and make cancer data accessible to clinical teams, patients, providers and commissioners as well as to NCLCA colleagues, in order to enhance the impact and efficacy of treatment and care services.

This is an exciting time to join the CCO as the team collaborates with the newly formed NCL Integrated Care System, and when there is a growing recognition of the essential value of good data in the NHS.

This postholder will be the key focal person for the CCO’s engagement with senior stakeholders across cancer services in NCL. They are also the central point for all managerial and financial functions, including workforce matters. This demands a portfolio of skills as well as professional credibility in the field of health informatics

**The main duties of the Head of CCO are**:
**1. Organisational leadership**: Provide effective leadership in the ongoing development and evolution of the Centre for Cancer Outcomes.

**2. Delivery**: Deliver tangible outputs across the spectrum of priority programmes within the Centre, as set out in detail in the Job Description.

**3. Partnership working**: Build effective collaboration with national (e.g. National Disease Registration Service (NDRS), CRUK, Macmillan, ICHOM) and local organisations (e.g. the NCL Integrated Care Board, UCL, QMUL, hospitals) to realise the objectives of the Centre for Cancer Outcomes.

**4. Workforce**: Provide effective leadership to the CCO team (4 people).

**5. Governance**: Ensure compliance with UCLH policies and procedures and embed a robust approach to the quality assurance and performance delivery of programmes.

The Centre for Cancer Outcomes (CCO) uses data to answer real world questions to improve patient outcomes and experience. We provide customised insights to help NHS teams with decision making and implementation on complex challenges in cancer care.

We are in the NHS, for the NHS. CCO is hosted by UCLH and our team emulates NHS values. We believe in sharing what we learn, and has a strong history in collaborating with cancer charities, academia and the NDRS.

We help organisations understand the challenges they face, design responses, improve delivery and evaluate results. We do this through clear thinking and applied analytics. Our staff are experts in integrating clinical, operational, research, improvement and outcomes data to provide customised insights into patient care.

The CCO is based in an office in Wimpole Street, central London, with hybrid working the norm. It is a small high-performing, highly collaborative team, sitting alongside a larger, dynamic, friendly team which is the North Central London Cancer Alliance.

The Head of the Centre for Cancer Outcomes is an exciting role for an individual who brings both leadership skills as well as a solid understanding of the NHS, cancer and health informatics. The postholder will be responsible for producing expert insights, based on robust methodologies, to monitor patterns of cancer care in NCL Cancer Alliance and our partner organisations.

The postholder must be able to engage with strategic senior stakeholders to represent the CCO at the local, regional and national level. They will need to be able to forge and maintain effective working relationships with multiple partners across the NHS, the ICS and academia, and bring highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written. They must have an exceptional grasp of data relating to cancer pathways and outcomes.

If this role fits your profile, we would love to have you as part of our team.
