Key responsibilities:

- To keep abreast of current developments and changes in legislation
- Provide advice and assistance to clients of the firm who have been detained at a police station by telephone and/or person when accredited
- Attend upon clients of the firm either at court or in the office or in custody or elsewhere to obtain their instructions and provide them with advice and assistance
- To attend upon other such as witnesses and experts at the office or elsewhere to obtain relevant statements, evidence or opinions in connection with clients cases
- Visit relevant sites and prepare plans, sketches and/or photographs and render any evidence thus obtained into admissible form.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other parties by letter and telephone and in person
- Attend upon and assist Counsel, clients and witnesses at court hearings and at case conferences
- Assist Fee Earners in the preparation of clients cases and undertaking relevant research where appropriate
- Ensuring Clients affairs and the business of the firm are kept confidential
- Obtain accreditation and so enable participation in the firms out of hours rota to provide advice and assistance at police stations
- Perform all tasks and duties as should reasonably be required from time to time and to be at all times accountable to the Departmental Manager.
- Generally, to use best endeavours to promote the interest and welfare of the firm and its clients.
- To observe and perform the guidelines and procedures contained in the Office and Departmental Manuals
Key skills:

- Basic knowledge and understanding of legal principles and current legislation.
- Education to A Level standard to include GCSE (Grade C) or equivalent in English Language and/or relevant legal experience.
- File management skills.
- Investigative skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and function effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work to set deadlines.
- Ability to get on with people.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proper client care in accordance with the firm's requirements.
- Police station accreditation or ability to obtain same.
