The Division of Women and Children are seeking to recruit a Clinical Governance and Risk Midwife to work within the Divisional Clinical Governance Team, with the management of the safety and quality processes related to incidents, risk and the wider governance agenda. The Division has a diverse service provision that includes Central Lancashire Breast Unit, Gynaecology, Safe Centre, Maternity, Neonatal Services, Acute Paediatrics and Community Paediatrics.

We are looking for individuals who have knowledge and experience to lead the clinical governance agenda, working closely with the Clinical Governance and Risk Lead across the division and all the specialties we provide a service to. This is a full time and permanent position.

You are sought from midwives with experience at Band 6 level or above who are committed to enhancing standards of governance and risk maturity. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of clinical governance ensuring that systems are in place to effectively manage clinical and other risks.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, organised and dedicated individual to join the team to deliver the governance agenda for the division, working collaboratively in communication with the Trust corporate governance and risk team, with particular focus on the Maternity and Neonatal Services.

The role involves co-ordination of the investigations and response to clinical incidents on behalf of the senior management team and ensure appropriate risk assessments are undertaken and acted upon by the clinical management team and clinical staff, with particular focus on Maternity and Neonatal Services.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required to present reports and offer challenge where necessary. Excellent time management skills are required to manage a busy workload and a flexible approach will be required to meet the needs of the department.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential, to be able to deliver against key objectives, in a fast paced and ever changing environment. The post holder will need to be an individual who enjoys collaborative working and is committed to continuous quality improvement and patient safety, in line with national standards.

The Clinical Governance Team for Women and Children has a structure which includes a Divisional Governance Lead and two Band 7 Clinical Governance Managers, which includes a Clinical Governance and Risk Manager who provides focused expertise within the specialties of Breast, Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Safe Centre. You will provide focused clinical governance and risk management towards the Maternity and Neonatal Specialties, with a whole team approach that is embedded to assure the divisional wide governance agenda is met, supported by the team clinical governance and risk facilitation.

Co-ordinating the delivery of the Trust Risk Management Strategy across the Division - maintaining compliance with clinical governance patient safety standards

Coordinating and completing investigations to Datix incident reports managing investigation processes and report collation in collaboration with clinical teams

Coordinating and supporting processing of complaint responses and responding to harm associated complaints and concerns

Leadership of the specialty clinical governance agenda and line management of the clinical governance and risk facilitation

Collation and approving of Specialty and Divisional assurance reports and action plans

Supporting Team Lead with clinical governance risk monthly dashboard compliance and responding to reduced compliance

Coordinating and disseminating learning from incidents, risk assessments, complaints and claims assuring actions are followed up and robustly completed with audit assurance
