Service Care Solutions are looking for a Network Engineer to work within the Gloucestershire Constabulary on a 12-month contract.
**Location**: Waterwells Police HQ, Gloucester
**Job roles/description**:

- To provision hardware/software deployments and configuration to support new requirements in relation to the above-mentioned infrastructure.
- Monitor the health of the ICT Network using the management tools available to ensure the constant functionality and availability of the environment.
- Monitor the security posture of the ICT Network using the vulnerability tools available and ensure any detected vulnerabilities are remediated.
- Follows security best practices and ensure compliance to defined standards when deploying new hardware/software and configuration.
- Carries out routine maintenance and patching of the ICT Network infrastructure.
- Works with other ICT Service teams to troubleshoot system performance issues, escalating to hardware or software vendors for firmware or software fixes. Implements changes where required to rectify issues or improve performance.
- Produces and updates documentation concerning the ICT Network Infrastructure. Assists in the implementation and documentation of working processes used in the team or department.
- Looks to enhance the current infrastructure where possible engaging with third parties where necessary, as well as assisting on the delivery of ICT projects when required.
- To provide 24/7 BAU support for the underlying infrastructure that is hosting business critical systems in line with agreed SLAs by participating in on-call as part of a team roster.
- To liaise with other areas of the business to gather requirements this will feed into solution proposal documentation to be reviewed for approval by management.
- To liaise with third parties to produce costings for new hardware and software which is required either for upgrades, replacements, or new requirements.

**Experience/Qualifications required**:

- The installation, testing, implementation or decommissioning and removal of cabling, wiring, equipment, hardware, and appropriate software, following plans and instructions and in accordance with agreed standards.
- The testing of hardware and software components, resolving malfunctions found and recording the results.
- The reporting of details of hardware and software installed so that configuration management records can be updated.
- The provision of network maintenance and support services. Support may be provided both to users of the systems and to service delivery functions. Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving problems and providing information about thesystems. It may also include monitoring their performance. Problems may be resolved by providing advice or training to users about the network's functionality, correct operation, or constraints, by devising workarounds, correcting faults, or making generalor site-specific modifications.
