We have an immediate opening for an experienced School Site Supervisor / Caretaker to join us at a small Primary School in Leigh, details as follows:

**Job Title**:Site Supervisor/Caretaker

**Start Date**: Around 15th February 2023 (start date flexible)

**Days**: Monday to Friday

**Times**: 06:30am to 08:30am then 15:30pm to 18:30pm

**Hours/day**: 5 hours/day (Basic)

**Hours/Week**: 25 hours/week (Basic)

**Hourly Pay**: £12.00/hour

**Working Pattern**: 47.6 weeks per year
- 39 weeks - term time
- 3 closure working weeks (half term)
- 5.6 weeks paid annual leave to be taken in school closure weeks

(Closure working weeks will be agreed at the start of each academic year)

**Equalised Hourly Rate paid over 52 weeks per year**: Equivalent to £10.98 per hour

**Monthly Wage**: £1,190.00 per month (basic)

**Salary**:£14,280 per year (basic)

**Payday**: Monthly on 5th of each month

**DBS**: Enhanced DBS will be required. If you don't already have one, this will be completed and paid for by the company

**Team**: Mixture of working with cleaning and school staff on site

Note: The following job Specification may cover tasks that can't be completed in the 5 hours/day - that's why we have stated that the daily hours are "Basic". Any jobs that can't be completed during the normal working hours will be additional.

**Job Specification**:
Under the guidance of NJ Cleaning and the School Business Manager, you will contribute to the smooth running of Leigh St Johns Primary School by carrying out a range of caretaking duties to the agreed quality standards.

This is a permanent contract with an initial probationary period of 3 months.

Some flexibility will be required to support adverse weather and other school events.

**Main Duties **(to include but are not limited to):

- Keyholding position, opening & closing the school
- Security and supervision of the site
- Maintenance of equipment
- Receiving deliveries for the school and putting these away in the designated areas
- Supporting the maintenance plan that is provided by the school
- Minor maintenance and repairs
- Undertaking regular checks and inspections of the property
- Daily, weekly, monthly, compulsory checks on items such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, roller shutters, etc
- Supporting winter months with gritting and clearing paths to ensure staff and pupil safety
- Flexibility to work later as required to support school events

**Main purpose**
- Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes buildings and grounds
- Carrying out external cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, and minor repairs
- Promoting health and safety around the school
- Occasional supervision of external contractors - when necessary
- Carry out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment around the school
- Maintain the general school premises, furniture and fittings, and report any issues to Business Manager
- Carry out small repairs and DIY projects
- Carry out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking and arranging the disposal of waste
- Carry out emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and cleaning up spillages
- Facilitate and partake in an annual deep clean of classrooms, staffrooms, kitchen, dining areas, food tech areas and other frequently used spaces on school premises
- Maintain the security of the school premises as the main key holder
- Lock and unlock the premises as required, including out of school hours when necessary
- Check at the end of the day that all windows, doors and gates are locked, lights switched off, and gas and electrical appliances are turned off
- Set security alarm systems, report any potential security breaches, and respond to any alarms or other call-outs following agreed procedures
