Whistlefish is a thriving UK-based company that operates in the retail and wholesale markets. With 12 retail outlets across the South West of England and a successful e-commerce platform, we are known for our unique blend of greetings cards, framed art, gifts and home accessories.

As a Procurement Specialist at Whistlefish, you will play a vital role in ensuring the availability of raw materials for framed and canvas art production, paper and envelopes for greetings cards and sourcing gifts and home accessories. Your responsibilities will include sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. You will have the opportunity to drive cost-efficiency, quality improvement and sustainability initiatives in our procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management:

- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality products.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and agreements to achieve cost savings and favourable contract terms.

Sourcing and Procurement:

- Source and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and sustainability criteria.
- Continuously monitor market trends, industry developments and supplier performance to make informed decisions.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise supply chain efficiency.

Inventory Management:

- Forecast demand to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure seamless material flow.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimise waste and excess stock.

Quality Assurance and Sustainability:

- Collaborate with the department heads to ensure that purchased materials meet Whistlefish's quality standards.
- Promote sustainability initiatives by sourcing eco-friendly and responsible materials when possible.

Cost Efficiency:

- Continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality or service levels.
- Analyse cost structures, conduct cost-benefit analyses and implement cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field is desired but not essential.
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chain management, ideally in a manufacturing or retail environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
