**How you'll make a difference**:

As Procurement Officer for South Gloucestershire Council you will be a key member of the procurement team for the Resources & Business Change department - working in partnership with internal customers to develop and undertake procurement processes and strategies within your own portfolio of projects, whilst developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships that optimise performance and minimise supply chain risk.

**What you will be doing**
- On a daily basis you will provide specialist accurate advice and information to a range of customers such as partner organisations, employees, key stakeholders, departments, managers to ensure policies meet legislative requirements and codes of practice
- You will support projects and improvement programmes in specialist service areas and support Council-wide initiatives making sure that projects are completed on time, to budget and to required standards and that wider agenda requirements are met e.g. Council initiatives, Government agenda requirements
- You will efficiently review and resolve any issues relating to budgets/financial information/resources to ensure that agreed targets are met, reports are prepared and delivered, data is managed effectively and corrective action is taken when necessary.
- In the role you will establish, develop and manage relationships with customers so that quality standards and business needs are met and contract terms are fulfilled, maximising cost effectiveness, quality service delivery and ensuring time scales and budgets are met.
- You will maintain a high quality and consistent services to customers where agreed standards are achieved across a wide range of services, Service Level Agreements are adhered to and ownership is taken for responding to and resolving queries, complaints and requests.
- Through effective research, analysing information you will recommend business solutions for service areas and in consultation with customers identify and provide training and information sessions so understanding of procurement expertise is enhanced.

**What we need from you**:

- You will have a relevant professional or equivalent degree level qualification or you will have equivalent relevant experience.
- It is essential that you have detailed knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that carries out significant procurement activity within the Public sector.
- You just have a clear understanding and knowledge of European and Government procurement regulations and demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of contributing to developing processes, procedures and projects
- You will be able to understand and interpret complex data and provide solutions and recommendations to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- We require you to have good analytical, numeracy and reasoning skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate, build relationships and influence effectively with colleagues, suppliers and partners
- You must be able to work flexibly, using your own initiative and creatively in response to identified departmental needs and priorities and work collaboratively across the council and partners to manage a complex workload
- You will have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use appropriate specialist in-house software packages.
