**Job summary**:
DWP is looking to fill one** **role in DWP Finance Group’s Strategic Finance** **directorate. This is a key role that works at the heart of Finance Group, we are looking for people who will help us deliver a visible portfolio across a fast-moving environment in a diverse organisation that includes business planning, risk, assurance, business continuity, financial allocations, performance and portfolio management.

Due to the volume and pace of work passing through the DG’s office this role is advertised as full time only.

**Job description**:
This is a high-profile role at the heart of Finance Group in DWP, one of the biggest spending departments in Government. Finance Group encompasses a number of functions which include Finance, Commercial and Security. The role itself covers a wide range of responsibilities, including:

- Proactively supporting the FDG to drive forward the department’s agenda.
- Exercising sound judgement to prioritise, drive resolution of issues, escalate risks and enable the FDG to focus on her highest priorities and accountabilities.
- Leading a highly efficient, professional and respected Private Office that is a visible and active ambassador of the FDG with both the FG and the rest of the department.
- Challenging strategic and technical advice to the FDG that enables her to take timely and well-informed decisions on key issues, including differing views.
- Ensuring excellent channels of communication on behalf of the FDG across FG and into the department.

**Hybrid working**

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

- Leadership of the private office team and across the broader portfolio on behalf of the DG.
- Finance or Governance experience
