**HOURS OF DUTY: 25 Hours per week**

**WAGE: £12.00 / hour**

**RESPONSIBLE TO: Early Years Coordinator**

PURPOSE:
To manage an after school and summer scheme project, with responsibility for the efficient running of the group. The after schools leader will provide stimulating and enjoyable activities for the children. The leader will be part of a team and the main working relationships will be with the after schools play workers, children, and the parents of those who use the facility.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- The provision of safe, creative play opportunities for 4-12 year old children and organising programmes of activity.
- Management/ supervision of all staff, volunteers and student placements within the afterschool s/ summer scheme setting.
- Ensure that all areas and materials used by the children are clean, safe and well maintained.
- Ensure bus sheets and collection service is run effectively and professionally.
- Ensure all Rainbowcfc policies and procedures are adhered to at all times within Afterschool/Summer scheme setting
- Ensure that accurate information is given to the Early years Coordinator and Manager on all financial matters and procedures.
- Ensure all programme activities are in line with HSCNI Minimum standards (2012)
- To build positive relationships with the Afterschools Children ensuring they are engaged and consulted on activities within the rooms.
- Ensure that the Health and Safety guidelines are followed and risk assessments are completed daily/weekly and when required.
- Responsible for working within an agreed budget for the afterschools/ summer scheme.
- Ensuring that fire safety procedures are adhered to.
- To have a clear knowledge of childcare through play within a multi-cultural setting, a commitment to anti-racist childcare through the use of multi-cultural toys, books, etc.
- In consultation with staff at planning meetings be responsible for:

- Preparation of the daily routine
- Maintain records where appropriate.
- Develop appropriate partnerships with parents.
- Develop effective links with the community and other agencies.
- To liaise with the Early Years Coordinator / Management Social Services, and other professionals as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented.
- The leader should bring to the attention of the Early years Coordinator / Manager any matter for which they have overall responsibly.
- To maintain documentation ain accordance with Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts.
- Ensure bus collection service collects children on-time.

The post holder will be required to work a minimum of 22.5 hours per week. The post holder may be required as and where necessary to attend evening meetings and training and work in excess of the normal hours including Saturdays.

JOB SPECIFICATION
**Essential Characteristics**
- QCF Level 5 Children’s Care, Learning and Development in Leadership and management or Playwork with leadership
- At least 2 years paid employment in a children’s setting with leadership responsibilities.
- A sound understanding of child development and children’s needs.
- A understanding of the HSCNI Minimum standards

**Desirable Characteristics**:

- 3 + years experience of supervision of staff / volunteers
- Ability to establish working relationships with parents and actively encourage their involvement.
- Ability to prepare information for staff, parents, and stakeholders both in written and oral presentation
- Conflict Management and problem solving skills
- First Aid
- Child Protection Designated Officer training
