Accounts Assistant

Avocet Commercial Careers are working with one of the South West's leading Professional Services firms who pride themselves on delivering an exceptional level of service to all clients and have a great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join their expanding, knowledgeable team in Honiton.
As an integral part of the Accountancy Team, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements and providing bookkeeping services for a wide range of clients including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
Duties include:
- Preparing financial statements as well as corporate and personal tax returns.
- Ensuring that clients' records are maintained and up to date at all times
- Carrying out the preparation and completion of quarterly VAT returns.
- Issuing HM Revenue and Companies House documents as well as providing bookkeeping services
- Carrying out Team admin duties to support the smooth running of the department.
- Ensuring a high level of internal and ethical standards, and regulatory requirements is maintained at all times
The successful Accounts Assistant will be able to demonstrate the below skills and attributes
- Previous working knowledge of delivering impeccable custiemr service within an office working environrment
- Able to use your initiative to priortise and organise your workload to meet set deadlines
- Strong eye for accuracy with excellent communication skills
- IT proficient with experience using Micro Soft Office, Xero, Quickbooks and Sage
- AAT qualified or qualified by relevant experience
- Numerical and methodical with the ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly
Salary/ Benefits
- Starting salary from £20500 with an annual salary review
- 36.5 hours / 5 days per week - however hybrid working, part-time hours/days can also be considered
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 25 days plus bank holidays after 3 years’ service.
