Thank you for your interest in the **Volunteer Officer** role.

At the University of Southampton, our aim is to change the world for the better, bringing together realms of research, creativity, and knowledge to have a truly collaborative, immersive and ground-breaking impact. We care about the challenges that humanity is facing, and work to support others on a local and global scale.

In the Office of Development & Alumni Relations, our job is to galvanise our community to solve these challenges and to make a difference. Would you like this to be your job too?

**The role**

You will play a key role in delivering an exciting programme of volunteering activities and initiatives, which builds and strengthens mutually beneficial, lifelong relationships between alumni and supporters, students, and the wider University.

Working with departments across the university, you will develop a regular calendar of volunteering opportunities for alumni and supporters, which directly support University priorities including student recruitment, graduate employability, and student success.

You will be responsible for managing the volunteer journey, ensuring alumni and supporter volunteers feel valued and an essential part of the University community.

This role is based at our Highfield campus, although most of the team work on a hybrid basis so your time can be split between working remotely from home and catching up with colleagues on campus.

**About you**

Your enthusiasm for volunteering and understanding of its value will help build a successful volunteering programme, which gives alumni and supporter volunteers positive experiences.

You will be a team player with outstanding customer service skills, who is comfortable working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

You will have a passion for innovation and creative thinking and enjoy the opportunity to put your mark on our volunteering communities.

You will proactively build and manage relationships with colleagues across the University, and our community of volunteers around the world.

With strong organisational and administrative skills, you will be experienced in working on projects to tight deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

**About Us**

This is an exciting time to join the University of Southampton. We are planning our first University-wide fundraising and engagement campaign. Together, we want to raise more money and engage more alumni and friends with Southampton so that we can change the world.

**This could be a career-defining and remarkable opportunity. Help us change the world. Join us.**

As well as flexible working, we offer a great benefits package, including a contributory pension scheme, 20 days’ holiday allowance to start (34 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days), subsidised health and fitness facilities, a cycle-to-work scheme and a range of discounts and offers at local shops, restaurants, and service providers.**Further details**:
