This is a senior leadership role in which the post holder will be jointly responsible for the strategic direction and overall provision of the management of nursing services within the Division, ensuring the delivery of consistently high standards of care, patient experience and satisfaction.
Working in partnership with the Divisional Leadership Team the Divisional Nurse is accountable for the delivery of nursing quality standards, patient safety and the patient experience in the Division, providing professional leadership, advice and support for the Division to ensure there is consistency of practice, high standards of care with a strong patient safety focus.
The post holder will be a credible clinical practitioner; they will ensure evidence based nursing care in line with best practice and that the National and the Trusts strategic objectives are delivered. They will provide professional nursing advice to the Divisional Director, Divisional Manager and the Directorate triumvirates.
The post holder will have accountability to the Director of Nursing & Midwifery for professional nursing strategy and standards, including a corporate portfolio.
The post holder will provide professional leadership for nursing within the Division.

Main Duties
To provide professional leadership for nurses within the Division
To give expert professional advice on a range of highly complex nursing care issues to the Divisional Management Team. To include where appropriate statutory and regulatory nursing requirements providing assurance and taking responsibility for their delivery
In partnership with the Divisional Director and Divisional Manager, assume accountability for all aspects of patient safety, quality and governance across the Division. Include analysing complex and conflicting information from a variety of sources to make recommendations to the Divisional Management Team and the Director of Nursing & Midwifery.
Be responsible for the advancement of nursing evidence based best practice and the implementation of policy.
The post holder will represent the Director of Nursing & Midwifery at local, regional and national level
In partnership with the Divisional Director and Divisional Manager, ensure the Division meets all external and internal regulatory requirements.
Undertake a biannual review of nursing establishments in line with the NICE guidance directive to determine appropriate staffing levels to meet service needs and in line with nationally recommended staffing ratios
Ensure Divisional compliance for nursing with the Trust’s E-Rostering policy, KPIs and alignment to any nursing productivity and efficiency guidance.
To ensure effective nursing workforce planning and deployment of staff across the Division to enable safe and effective delivery of services and care.
Lead on the timely recruitment and retention of nursing staff and be responsible for all Divisional nursing workforce issues
