**Health and Safety Officer**

**Location**:Cheadle **(with travel to multiple locations across the UK).**

**Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 (pro rata) depending on experience**

**Hours: 24 hours (3 days per week)**

The safety and well-being of our staff, children, and visitors are our top priorities. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team.

**As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, fire safety standards, and effective fleet management practices across our organisation. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments, implementing safety policies and procedures, delivering training, and overseeing fleet operations.**

**Responsibilities**
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety policies, procedures, and practices across all our locations in line with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and fire safety standards.
- Deliver comprehensive health and safety training programmes to staff, promoting a culture of safety and awareness.
- Develop and implement fire safety plans, conduct fire risk assessments, and provide guidance on fire prevention measures.
- Oversee fleet management activities, including vehicle inspections, maintenance, and compliance with road safety regulations.
- Ensure the effective management of our fleet, including driver training, journey planning, and vehicle tracking.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
- Keep up to date with changes in health and safety, fire safety, and fleet management legislation, regulations and best practices.
- Liaise with external agencies, regulatory bodies and authorities as required.

**Person Specification**
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably within the children's care or education sector.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, fire safety standards, and fleet management practices.
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certification or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing safety policies, and delivering training programs.
- Familiarity with fire safety regulations, fire risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
- Strong understanding of fleet management principles, including driver training, vehicle maintenance, and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Driver with own car and flexibility to travel to various locations across the UK, as required.
