The Head of Content Marketing will own and drive the strategic direction of commercial marketing content, you will lead creative development and management, pushing the industry boundaries. You will inspire and lead the Content team to tell stories, working cross functionally to understand customer insight and needs across audience, product and research areas. You will ensure everything our customers see is consistently brilliant and meets the brand and marketing objectives.

Strong in creative execution you will set a high bar for all content and act as a brand guardian, ensuring consistency and excellence in all of our content. Highly developed leadership and communication skills are a must, with the ability to develop a vision, plan and tell stories to inspire, educate and engage our customer, partner and internal audiences. You will constantly look for new and better ways to engage with our customers, devise and implement improvements to best practices, tools, and processes as well as make decisions based on metrics and analysis. You will be customer-oriented, commercially minded, and able to work within a matrix organisation to develop and execute influential, compelling and effective marketing plans.

Content Marketing sits within Solutions Marketing, as part of the wider Growth Marketing organisation at Abcam and works closely with the Product, Research Area, Marketing and Sales organisations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drive and define content marketing strategy within abcam to accelerate growth by creating compelling and innovative content that our customers love and want to share; driving brand perception, awareness, engagement, retention, lead acquisition, conversion and retention.
- Lead, develop and nurture the Content Team across areas of Content Marketing Strategy, Operations and Performance; Scientific and Community Content, and Commercial Content. Build team capability and processes to elevate impact of messaging and creative copy
- Use exceptional story-telling skills to raise awareness and affinity of our brand and business in a competitive market
- Champion a test and learn mentality, looking for new and better ways to engage with our customers. Lead content planning, development, review and performance, using data to evolve strategy and future plans
- Develop compelling messaging, curate and review existing content and ensure consistency across all content
- Work with other members of Growth Marketing Leadership to establish strategic marketing priorities and identify content requirements within these, ensuring content production is effectively planned, prioritised and managed
- Develop close working relationship with the Digital team to deliver world-class digital content, inspirational imagery, and innovative brand content
- Work alongside Brand to define ongoing brand material including brand tone of voice and content rules of the game
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between within the organisation to ensure content optimisation and performance for paid, organic and owned channels
- Work with Regional Marketing team to develop priorities and processes for translation and regionalisation of content

**Qualifications**:

- Strong leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing teams
- Experience building novel and highly impactful content that has helped grow a product, business or brand
- Experience developing compelling content and copy that get cut through, build a brand and drive great commercial results
- Ideally you’ll have both B2B and B2C marketing experience,
