Thales Ground Transportation Systems UK (GTS) are helping to shape the future of the rail industry in the UK, and beyond. We specialise in signalling and communication, collaborating with the biggest names in the industry to deliver the rail of the future. Software Engineering Apprentice
Location: Cheadle
This exciting Software Engineering Apprenticeship will offer the chance to immerse yourself in the software world from day one. You will learn all of the skills needed for a successful career in Software as well as the wider business knowledge that will help you to thrive in a corporate setting.
You will be a member of the Software Development team based at the Thales GTS site in Cheadle, near Manchester, and will have the opportunity to work with people at Thales GTS sites across the UK and overseas.
Key responsibilities will include; the development of Human Computer Interfaces, Acoustic processing, Autonomy and Middleware software products using industry standard tools and methods.
You will help to:
- Define our solution by working with Systems Engineering to develop requirements and a test strategy- Develop our systems by working as a member of a project team to deliver a high quality, robust software deliverable that meets customer requirements, on time and within budget- Support our systems by working with customer support functions to ensure that currently deployed software products are maintained- Build our strategy by working with software architects to ensure that skills, technology and ways of working for the future are developed
You will have the opportunity to be involved in the whole Software Engineering lifecycle, including front/back end design, data pipelines, analysis, and ETL processes. You will also require keen skills in internal and external stakeholder engagement as well as cross-functional engagement and presenting.
