London, United Kingdom Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a healthcare professional with an interest in project management and quality improvement? Do you have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders? If you are looking to work in an organisation with a track record for innovative practice, then this role may be the new challenge you are looking for. The post holder will work across the sector to improve delivery of, and reduce variations in, Vocational Rehabilitation across South East London (SEL). There will be a unique opportunity to report directly to the SEL Core Offer for Community Neurorehabilitation steering group, Integrated Stroke Delivery Network and Integrated Care Board.

The post holder will be well supported by individuals with VR, project management and healthcare leadership expertise. The project aims will be achieved by the implementation of a bespoke multidisciplinary VR training programme for SEL clinicians as well as a SEL VR multidisciplinary meeting. The project will increase the skills and knowledge of SEL community stroke and neurorehabilitation staff to deliver Level 1 and 2 VR as part of their standard rehabilitation. The training programme will also ensure that all SEL clinicians working across the stroke and neurorehabilitation pathway have the skills and knowledge to initiate discussions about work, set VR goals, and refer patients who require specialist Level 3 VR in a timely manner.

**The VR project lead will**:
design, coordinate the delivery of, and evaluate the SEL VR training programme

coordinate the SEL VR MDM

improve links with specialist VR services

establish a data set to measure the effectiveness of SEL VR delivery

seek feedback from patients who receive Level 1, 2 and 3 VR to ensure patients’ needs are being met

undertake a cost benefit analysis of patient accessing Level 3 VR outside of SEL

This role is funded by the South East London ICB and hosted by Guys and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK’s best-known hospitals - Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high-quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK’s busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and - as part of King’s Health Partners - we are one of England’s eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research’s biomedical research centres, established with King’s College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.

We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, and neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.

To undertake the VR project guided by recognised project management methodology

To explore current SEL VR practice and pathways, identifying gaps in service delivery

To work collaboratively with key stakeholders (SEL VR working group, patients, VR experts, local businesses) to design a bespoke VR training programme for SEL clinicians based on identified learning needs, research evidence, clinical guidance, and expert consensus

To coordinate the delivery of the VR training programme utilising a variety of training resources to optimise learning

To monitor the number of clinicians trained in VR in each SEL service

To evaluate the VR training programme through pre
- and post-training staff questionnaires

To support the delivery of a new VR SEL VR MDM, ensuring adherence to meeting governance

To work collaboratively with current specialist VR services in order to improve timely access to Level 3 VR for SEL patients

To develop a SEL data set to measure the effectiveness of Level 1 and 2 VR delivered in SEL, including number of patients accessing VR, anonymised patient demographics, length of stay within the service, outcome of VR including number of patients returning to work, unmet needs, patient feedback

To regularly report to the SEL Core Offer for Community Neurorehabilitation steering group, ISDN and ICB regarding the project’s progress, incorporating feedback to guide the direction of the project

To complete a report about the project’s impact and any outstanding unmet needs, with recommendations about whether a Level 3 SEL VR service is recommended
