Specialist Team Member

We are the Environment Agency, workong in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, communities to manage the impacts of climate change, perhaps the most serious long-term threat to the environment, people, wildlife that we face.
- In this Specialist Team Member role, you will work closely with your Team Leader to:
- Complete our maintenance programme by planning, scheduling, resourcing works.
- Produce Health & Safety documentation for the team, provide leadership on health and safety matters through actively promoting safe working practices
- Ensure work sites are fully compliant to legal requirements, Environment Agency policies and procedures
- Assist leading our operational response to flood, environmental incidents by participating, training in an incident role
- Indentify organise, coordinate training to test our incident response plans
- Make decisions, resolve problems as they arise
Whilst most of your work is office based, you will be expected to work outside in the field providing guidance, support to the worforce whilst delivering projects.
- We act quickly when there’s an emergency such as flooding/pollution. When a duty role becomes available you will be asked to work in our 24-hour call-out rota, you have an opportunity to increase your salary with overtime, standby payments.
The team
- Our field teams work towards protecting people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets across Kent.
- We provide advice and support to our colleagues across the business and to external customers and stakeholders. We respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night, we also provide mutual aid supporting our colleauges and communities across the country when incidents occur.
Experience/skills required
- Through your experience you will be able to demonstrate some of the following qualities:
- Effective and inclusive leadership
- Management of contractors, and working with partners
- Good organisational skills, managing multiple priorities and demands effectively
- Delivery of work by planning, tracking and maintaining data/information
- Confident in the use of I.T. systems and the use of MS Office
- Good knowledge of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)

- You'll be required to travel to the depot and between sites therefore a full UK driving licence is required.
