**Temporary EHC Casework Assistant**

**Reference no: Nottinghamshire TCL 0008 4157 / 1**

**Pay Rate: £12.24 per hour PAYE**

**37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours**

**This opening assignment is 4-5 months**

**City: MANSFIELD**

**Hybrid working - office 2 days per week, home working 3 days.**

To provide a responsive, customer focussed, support service for children, young people and families with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). Receiving all initial contacts and enquiries regarding the statutory Education Health and Care (EHC) process on a locality basis and providing support to the Locality Caseworker Team. To liaise throughout the process with families and other professionals as required

Key Responsibilities

Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding the statutory EHC process.
- Manage callers’ expectations of outcomes, the process and timescalesProvide impartial information and advice to children and young people (0-25 yrs) with disabilities, their families, and professionals, in line with SEND statutory duties.
- Support the effective tracking and monitoring of children and young people through the EHC process, updating relevant data bases as required and producing management information as requested
- Support the Caseworking team to maintain regular contact with Children, Young People (CYP) and families throughout the statutory EHC process and throughout the lifetime of EHC Plans where these are agreed
- Undertake administrative duties relating to Mediations and Tribunals, including preparation of bundles of documents.
- Deal effectively with enquiries across all channels including schools, social care and health partners
- Gather and process information in line with data protection law and relevant legislation e.g. EHC legal framework, GDPR
- Organise and book appointments/meetings for Caseworkers as required

Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent relevant experience.
- Must be educated to English and Maths at GCSE Grade C or above.

Knowledge:
Service specific knowledge in children’s or adults disability including, safeguarding, person centred approaches.
- Knowledge and understanding of local government/local authority service provision

Exeperience:

- Experience of using Mosaic or aptitude for developing knowledge Experience of providing services to children and/or adults within an education, health or social care setting for a minimum of 2 years.
- Experience of providing information to the public or customers and of customer focused service delivery. Experience of using digital platforms such as Teams or Zoom.
- Experience of working in a fast paced environment

Skills & Abilities:

- Strong customer service skills with the ability to listen and empathise with others, including in difficult or distressing situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to gain the cooperation of others and diffuse conflict.
- Ability to initiate and sustain professional links/ relationships with parents/ carers and colleagues both inside the organisation and externally
