Disability Services provides a range of confidential support services for disabled students and confidential advice for disabled staff. We work closely with colleagues across the University and with relevant external suppliers and support agencies. Our friendly and professional team of staff have expertise in a wide range of disability-related issues and regularly provide training and advice to University staff to support the provision of an inclusive and accessible learning and working environment. We currently support over 2,500 disabled students to access their studies by identifying and arranging a range of support to meet their individual needs. We also provide a DSA needs assessment service for students in other universities and colleges through our regional Access Centre.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join the Disability Services' team as a
**Disability Adviser. This is a fixed-term, part-time (0.6FTE) position until 31st December 2023. **This important role supports the delivery of a range of services for disabled students and the provision of confidential advice for disabled staff. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional team in a varied, challenging and interesting role in a supportive environment. You will work with colleagues in Disability Services and across the University to promote inclusive practice in education and employment.

Your priorities will include:

- Providing professional support and a range of services as a member of the Disability Services' team
- Providing confidential advice and support to disabled students and applicants
- Undertaking individual needs assessment, identifying reasonable adjustments and arranging support
- Supporting the provision of confidential advice for disabled staff
- Contributing to disability-related staff training and policy/guidance development

Who we’re looking for:

- You will have experience of working with disabled students in further or higher education
- You will have excellent written and oral communication skills
- You will have excellent IT skills, particularly MS 365
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be sensitive to the needs of disabled people
- You will be self-motivated and highly organised with a flexible attitude to work
- You will be capable of high degrees of integrity and reliability, including adhering to strict confidentiality requirements
