The Directorate of Student Services at the University of Dundee is dedicated to working with students and staff to ensure the wellbeing of our students and to contribute to the student experience more widely. We offer a number of general and specialist services to our 17,000 students which includes, Counselling, Health, Disability Services and Funding. We also work with students to develop their academic, English language and employability and enterprise skills. We provide access to high quality sporting facilities through our Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE) and we also provide support to the 1600 students in our own residences.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as our Student Support Adviser (Gender based Violence Prevention & Support) within our Student Support Team to lead on prevention work around GBV and to support students who are survivors of GBV. This is a full-time permanent appointment.

The post holder will have a lead role in the University for developing and advising on policy and processes related to GBV, will support our Equally Safe Group and work with our Student Support & Engagement Manager to enable the University to achieve the EmilyTest Charter Mark.

Your priorities will include:

- Leading on the development of University GBV policy, processes and associated guidance for students and staff
- Working with the Student Support & Experience Manager and support them in their task of achieving the EmilyTest Charter Mark
- Providing expert advice and support to colleagues within Student Services and across the University on matters related to GBV and sexual violence prevention
- Supporting the implementation of the University’s Recurring & Enduring Circumstances Policy and procedure, ensuring support plans for students are in place and communicated to Schools

Who we’re looking for:
Someone who has

Knowledge and understanding of key issues facing students from a diverse range of back grounds.

Significant experience of providing support to people who are/have experienced gender based violence.

Experience of providing training/education for the prevention of gender based violence

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to influence and persuade effectively.

High degree of emotional intelligence, including good listening skills, tact and diplomacy
