We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Underwriter (Property & Casualty) to join our established NIG team in Manchester on a full-time, permanent basis. We are looking for driven individuals experienced in Property and Casualty underwriting management and leadership.

**What you'll be doing**:

- As part of the regional management team, deliver regional priorities (including profitability and growth targets), including as appropriate, participation in projects to support our development as a business
- Agree, monitor, report against and achieve financial budgets, including rate and retention, in the business plan
- Work with regional team to create and drive a new business plan, implementing effective trading strategies with brokers
- Enhance the capabilities and performance of the regional team through training, coaching and support for both technical and trading skills
- Actively engage with customers to deliver the required business results
- Maintain and develop a good understanding of relevant product market, sector, geographic location, distribution segmentation and act on market developments as appropriate, working with internal stakeholders
- Manage the region’s P&C audit programme, implementing actions as appropriate
- Deliver on the region’s compliance requirements across the P&C account
- Using a coaching style to support the team with referrals across risks of wide-ranging descriptions and sizes
- Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to your role, in line with Direct Line Group risk framework and regulatory and compliance requirements

**What you'll need**:

- Strong experience in Property and Casualty insurance underwriting
- Ability to lead a team of underwriters and encourage positive engagement
- Planning for and delivering on profitability and growth targets
- Technical knowledge, combined with trading skills and the ability to coach
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build and manage broker relationships
- Desire to contribute to a positive culture and help create an enjoyable place to work

This role can be undertaken from the comfort of your home where you will come into our Manchester office twice a week and will visit brokers and engage with colleagues across the UK.
