**About the SME Lending Manager - Business/Commercial Banking role**:

**Focus of the SME Lending Manager - Business/Commercial Banking role**:
- Through sustained and extensive business development activity, source and appraise suitable investment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain links and networks with key business introducers and intermediaries to source suitable investment opportunities.
**Responsibilities of the SME Lending Manager - Business/Commercial Banking role**:
- Through sustained and extensive business development activity, source and appraise suitable investment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain links and networks with key business introducers and intermediaries to source suitable investment opportunities.
- Maintain and develop technical and industry specific knowledge to ensure best practice and compliance in investment activity.
- Conduct thorough and robust management, financial and commercial due diligence when considering investment opportunities and assess the risks of each investment.
- Negotiate terms and conditions relating to legal documentation for the making of investments. Contribute to the investment team’s financial target, playing a key role in delivering timely and excellent customer service;
- Understand and assess underlying cashflow assumptions and comment on the risks associated with these and suggest and conduct appropriate sensitivity analysis;
- Take responsibility for the creation of covenants and the setting of limits. Liaise closely with portfolio teams as appropriate;
- Prepare sanction reports for credit sanction and present findings to Investment Committee;
- Liaise closely with the portfolio team post-investment and support as required to maintain the relationship with the investee company.
**Skills of the SME Lending Manager - Business/Commercial Banking role**:
- Understanding of all aspects relating to debt investments into SMEs or larger corporate entities.
- Understanding of investment risk appraisal, investment processes and procedures.
- Excellent commercial appreciation of business and the wider economic landscape.
- Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive network of relevant key business introducers in the area of operation.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident in own decision making.
- Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience of analysing financial information.
- Accountancy or banking qualifications.
**Other requirements of the SME Lending Manager - Business/Commercial Banking role**
- Driving Licence
- IT literate to include the use of Word, Excel and Power Point
