We are looking for a **cook and kitchen supervisor **to join our friendly, professional team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Inspiring Learning North Devon
We provide catering for both residential staff and customers which can be 450 meals per day. This position would suit a cook working within a school or education setting, or a chef looking for a better work life balance and hours.

Our aim is to provide quality home cooked healthy meals using fresh local produce where possible.

**The main functions of the job are**:
To assist the Catering Manager and chef in the smooth running of the kitchen, and take responsibility during their absence. This will include the ordering, cooking and presenting of daily menus. Ensuring the catering departments are stocked and ready and staffed as required.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Staff training and compliance
- To assist in planning suitable menus having considered client and staff needs.
- To assist with training and support of all Catering staff
- Maximizing the performance of your team and lead by example.
- Remain calm under pressure.
- Friendly and approachable.
- Great customer service.
- Time management skills.
- Be able to work on own initiative.
- Excellent communication with your team and other department Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends depending on business needs.
- Prioritise workload to ensure standards and deadlines are met
- Regular meetings with Catering Manager
- Clean uniform at all times
- To understand and comply with the Company’s safeguarding policy.
- Allergen awareness
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.
- Keeping wastage to a minimum
- Assisting with budgetary targets, costings and stock takes

**Main Duties**
- Complete the diary, cleaning rota and temperature control records.
- To maintain correct storage of foods paying attention to food labelling and stock rotation
- Preparation of foods for making sandwiches or cooking meals
- Serving and clearing in the dining room
- General kitchen duties to include, cleaning, and washing up.
- To work in the pot wash sinks
- To be concerned about good quality standards of food and service
- To innovate and experiment in areas related to financial savings, better service and new products.

**Essential skills**
- Relevant hospitality qualifications
- Level 2 or 3 food hygiene certificate
- Organised, professional and of smart appearance
- The ability to take responsibility, make decisions, work on own initiative
- The ability to lead but also work as a team member

**Applicants must have**:

- A positive attitude and ready to be part of a great team
- An enhanced DBS check (We will help with this)
