COVENTRY & WARWICKSHIRE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

**Job Title**:2x Business Advisors

**Salary Band**: £37k per annum

**Working Pattern**: Full Time, 37 Hours (Monday - Friday)

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
Proactively develop relationships with businesses eligible for support, including pre starts, Start Ups and Established Businesses across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Undertake business diagnoses and needs assessments to identify opportunities for growth and development.

Work with businesses to produce, and implement, an action plan to address the growth and development issues identified through the diagnostic and assessments, supporting the business to achieve a set of outcomes, including safeguarding jobs, creating jobs and improving businesses’ productivity.

Provide one to one Business Advice and Coaching on a variety of business issues, including Marketing, leadership and management, business planning, strategic financial planning and diversification planning.

Carry out a range of face to face networking and virtual engagement activities to build a case load of eligible and suitable SMEs, ensuring an adequate pipeline in order to meet monthly performance targets.

Build relationships with partner organisations and key stakeholders to raise the profile of the Chamber’s Business Support Programmes across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Work in an agile fashion, able to manage end to end, engagement through to delivering outputs, and amending delivery style and activities dependent on business needs.

Ability to develop own advice/guidance sessions responding to present market conditions and individual business requirements.

Assist businesses to secure and signpost to other resources needed for the implementation of action plans (for example DBT).

Where appropriate, assist businesses to secure Access to Finance Grants.

To develop and maintain relationships with Business owners, to include meetings and ongoing support to ensure expectations are fulfilled.

To ensure Businesses expectations are fulfilled, and where appropriate make referrals to other publicly funded support and/or the private sector.

To work to a set of targets, based on numbers of businesses assisted and jobs created as a result of the assistance provided, as well as referrals, and monthly activity targets.

Accurately, and with attention to detail, complete a set of paperwork to capture contractually compliant outputs and outcomes.

Deliver occasional 1:many workshops to support groups of businesses with their business growth.

**General Duties and Responsibilities**:
Maintain accurate and timely records via the Chamber’s CRM system and other systems directed by the funder.

Undertake training, continuous professional development and accreditation processes as required for the post.

Keep informed of national and local policies and initiatives in respect of business growth and development.

Undertake all work with due regards to the Chamber’s Quality Standards and Health
& Safety and Equal Opportunity Policies.

**Person Specification**:
A minimum of two years’ experience providing intensive business advice to Small and/or Medium size Enterprises (SME’s).

Experience and skilled at supporting a range of businesses, from pre-start through to existing businesses, understanding the challenges that they face.

A thorough understanding of the nature of businesses within Coventry and
Warwickshire.

Experienced in assisting or working in a range of sectors, including the following:
Manufacturing
Engineering
Aerospace
Construction
Energy
Professional sectors
Digital and creative
Automotive
Food and Drink
Tourism and Leisure

An in depth understanding of strategic and operational issues affecting SME’s.

Ability to assess business growth potential and familiarity with associated diagnostic techniques within a specific timeline.

Experience in providing light touch Exporting advice support is desirable.

Ability to produce and interpret business accounts including management accounts, profit and loss accounts, cash flows and balance sheets.

A good general understanding of strategic planning, basic business law, marketing, raising investment and investment readiness and diversification planning.

Ability to analyse information, formulate conclusions and make recommendations in a timely manner.

Commercially astute - with a proven ability to quickly understand a new business or industry and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

Ability to support a range of SMEs, from Starts Up, to more established businesses.

Ability to deliver formal and informal presentations and adapt style according to the audience.

Attend Chamber & partner events, networking on behalf of the program whilst acting as an ambassador of the Chamber.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Ability to use cloud based software, including databases to log client activity and track outputs.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a
