**Payroll Officer**

**REPORTS TO**: Head of Finance

**PAYSCALE**: _Band 4, Points 24 to 28 _
- (£31,761 to £35,385 per annum inclusive of Outer Fringe allowance)_

**LOCATION **SFG as Head Office

37 hours per week
**TERMS**:
52 weeks per year

**CONTRACT**:Permanent, Full Time

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**
To provide an effective and efficient processing of the monthly / yearly payroll data and pension submissions across BMAT.
To ensure a customer orientated service is provided in an efficient, confidential, flexible and professional manner.
The post requires flexibility and the ability to work well as part of a team.

**Liaison with**:
The post-holder is expected to liaise with all members of staff within the Academy and other Trust members of staff who may be on site.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
This list is not exhaustive, but includes:
**Payroll Administration**:
To prepare and process payroll data accurately and within the deadlines specified, duties include:

- Checking payroll data received for input and working collaboratively with the HR team to meet deadlines for submission of data.
- Updating salaries, overtime payments, monthly salary amendments
- Calculating statutory and voluntary monthly payments such as PAYE and NIC to meet with legislation requirements
- Calculating salaries
- Issuing employees’ payslips
- Collaborating with the HR team to maintain employee data
- Issuing HMRC forms and related documentation
- Amending employee personal records when necessary
- Process payments accurately and reconcile payroll general ledger codes
- To support staff and departments with any enquiries that might arise in a timely and professional manner
- To organise and prioritise the workload to meet all deadlines set
- Ensure all approved staff business expenses are processed and uploaded to the accounts system for payment and meet the internal financial policy requirements ie. authorisation, costs allocated as instructed by the departments managers and Finance and VAT receipts
- Ensure that pension administration is complete and that all returns are completed in a timely manner
- Assist with Gender Pay Gap submission on an annual basis
- Other hoc duties as required by the Head of Finance

**Other specific duties**:

- To continue personal development as agreed.
- To assist with the carrying out of risk assessments as appropriate
- To ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed
- To actively engage in the Performance Management Review process.
- To undertake any other duty as specified by the Executive Head not mentioned in the above
- To comply with the School’s Health and Safety Policy and undertake Risk Assessments as appropriate.
- To be aware of and work in accordance with the school’s child protection policies and procedures, and to raise any concerns relating to such procedures which may be noted during the course of duty.
- To be aware of the responsibilities for all staff to protect personal data under the GDPR, work in accordance with the school’s data protection policy and ensure that any suspected data loss or theft is reported immediately, as directed.

**General responsibilities common to all members of staff**
All staff are responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils and must follow BMAT guidance and policies.
