This role would suit a Teaching Assistant, creative specialist, art/dance practitioner. This role requires at least 2 year’s experience working with Special Needs.

**Duties**:

- Observe the children’s physical movement to assess their behavioural, cognitive or emotional state
- Plan a series of creative play sessions around a particular child or children’s group's requirements
- Deliver creative play sessions with a variety of children individually or in groups
- Develop and deliver weekly play themes to be shared with other play specialists.
- Create a safe environment in which feelings can be contained, acknowledged and communicated
- Work through areas of personal conflict by interacting, either individually or in groups
- Identify appropriate music resources and create props for sessions
- Write reports, update child records and complete general administrative work
- Attend group supervision sessions and, in some cases.
- Liaise with colleagues/other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Share relevant information about your children with colleagues and relatives, while adhering to ethical codes and rules of confidentiality.

**Skills**:

- Confidence in making up and creating play activities for children with special needs.
- Confidence in using different art modalities (dance/movement, music, art, storytelling/drama)
- Using the arts to facilitate and promote expression through the creative process
- Using the arts and games to create fun and stimulating sessions
- Plan and run sessions that are suitable for children of diverse age ranges, with diverse and complex needs
- Being comfortable in working with families/siblings/children that are accessing palliative care
- Providing opportunities for children to access play and creative sessions that they wouldn’t be able to access otherwise.
- Excellent team work and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing priorities and deadlines
- Willing to learn the BASE (Body and Soul Education) principles and methodologies
