This will be a support role based in the Maternity Wards.
You be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff and ensure high standards of administration and patient experience.
Creating clinic appointments and keeping patient records accurate and up to date.
The Maternity Ward team is on the lookout for Ward Clerks to join the team. This role is a great fit for passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to support in leading the department to excellence.
You will be providing a comprehensive administrative service in support of the multidisciplinary team, using a professional and customer-centred approach to all patients and their families who are undergoing care at The Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.
We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Ensure the accurate entry and updating of patient details and patient hospital episodes onto the Electronic Patient record system (EPR)
Ensure the accurate use of the EPR system to register patients new to the Trust.
Register babies and make new and follow-up appointments as required.
To make ‘new’ appointments ensuring that the Outpatient Government targets are upheld.
To maintain confidentiality and be aware of data protection when using all hospital systems, and also when dealing directly with patients and their families. To respond to patient record requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring confidentiality and security is adhered to at all times in line with the ‘Freedom of Information Act 2000’ and the ‘Data Protection Act 1999’.
To ensure all medical notes are pulled, as required and stored correctly and neatly.
To have confidence in communicating politely and efficiently with patients, relatives and other Trust staff via the telephone or face-to-face.
To provide and file medical case notes for antenatal clinics, ensuring that test results, including
Pathology results, are available and filed in the notes, ready for clinic appointments.
To organise patient tests and x-rays/scans as required.
To ensure that the Overseas Visitors / Private Patients procedure is followed in order that the Trust can collect the income generated by these patients.
To be able to work as part of the team, or on own initiative, in a very busy office environment.
