Chesterfield, United Kingdom Derbyshire County Council Full time

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Democratic and Elections Team in the role of Democratic Services Officer.

If you enjoy a challenging and varied role, right at the heart of supporting the Council’s decision-making processes, then we would like to hear from you. You will be part of a small, friendly team, working in a challenging and stimulating environment. You must be organised, accurate, have great writing skills and be able to work under pressure to pre-determined deadlines. You will need to be confident and tactful in dealing with elected members and senior officers and be able to think logically and plan ahead.

You will manage your own portfolio of committees, assist with scrutiny reviews, provide advice to Officers and Elected Members and organise and contribute to a range democratic, governance and civic projects. Whilst working primarily within the democratic functions of the team, you will also have the opportunity to support our elections and electoral registration work, developing new skills and experiences.

We offer flexible working policies including working from home but the role will require at least two to three days in the office due to committee schedules. Some pre-planned evening work will be required, along with very occasional weekend work to support core civic activities.
