There is a growing mountain of young people in need of support with their mental health and we need your help to tackle it

Can you see potential where others see problems? Have you struggled at some point in life and found a way to overcome a particular challenge? You might well be the one who can give a particular young person hope for the future and support to get through a difficult phase in their life. Could you give a young person the confidence, support and encouragement needed to overcome the challenges they face and fulfil their potential?

Oxygen is a Christian charity based in Kingston Upon Thames which works with young people of all faiths and none. It was formed through the vision of local young people over 22 years ago and has an excellent reputation in the local community. We meet young people where they are and try to see things from their perspective. We work to identify their skills, interests, goals and aspirations and help them develop a plan for their future.

We have a range of projects focussed upon meeting young people's needs and enabling them to receive support and help to get through life. We run programmes responding to knife and violent crime, run a shop, after school clubs, upcycling and enterprise projects, trips and residentials, gaming and digital youth work, mentoring and alternative education. We work in schools, youth clubs, cafes, our charity shop and go into people's homes. Our aim is to find what makes a young person tick and build a trusting relationship which helps them flourish.

As a Youth Mentor / Support Worker you will be responsible for engaging with young people through a range of activities to improve their spiritual, physical, social and mental wellbeing. You will find ways to engage young people individually and in small groups and involve young people in the participation and development of a plan for their future.

Oxygen’s youthwork programmes, projects and activities and promote their positive engagement with their peers and community. You will facilitate young people's growth, development and support them with issues affecting their mental health. You will enable them to discover their identity, build confidence and encourage them to make positive decisions about their lives.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 0 - 15 per week

**Salary**: £11.95-£14.00 per hour
