**Head of Healthcare Government Affairs**

**Position: Major Tasks**:

- Strategy and policy development to lead and be responsible for policy and strategy development across Bayer s human health portfolio, identifying key themes and trends in the healthcare environment and providing formal plans for relations with UK governments and the NHS to support corporate and product objectives. Key element would be developing company policy positions and coordinating response to Government
- Senior and business unit counsel and guidance Acquire, distil and communicate information on changes within the NHS, public health and Government policy and analyse the potential impact on our activities, recommending how the company should adapt to the changing environment. Working with internal audiences to develop appropriate integrated communications to respond and pursue to action if appropriate.
- Government and senior health stakeholder relationship management to implement effective public affairs activity that communicates the value of Bayer to target audiences in order to positively influence policy. This will be achieved by building and sharing strong relationships with NHS and government policy leaders. The role will have oversight of company interaction with all key NHS policy, communication channels include include briefings, face to face, correspondence, events management. Effective evaluation and reporting of activities and stakeholder management are an important part of the role.
- Advocacy, health related trade associations and think tanks to build and maintain excellent relations with trade associations such as ABPI, BIVDA and EMG, providing an expert point of contact to advance and manage Bayers issues across industry relations and lead the generation of coherent positions on matters of importance and work to get them adopted as wider industry positions. To build and maintain strong positive relationships with patient groups, patient associations and think tanks across relevant disease areas in order for Bayer to play its full role as a strong corporate citizen.
- Leadership and development to lead and develop the Government Affairs and Advocacy Managers in terms of their professional capabilities through effective performance management and to provide upskilling and education on relevant government affairs and related issues to business units. As part of the Patient Access Leadership team, lead the strategic plan development and implementation for allocated franchises across the 4 main patient access teams, being the key senior point person for Patient Access with the business units.
- Adherence and compliance Ensure adherence to industry specific codes of practice or conduct, advertising codes, regulatory directives, and guidelines, as applicable to the role, and to the Programme for Legal Compliance and Corporate Responsibility at Bayer.

**Position: Skills**:

- Significant current and relevant experience in UK Government Affairs, Public Health & Pharmaceutical Policy, Healthcare or Patient Advocacy.
- Bachelor s degree (BS/BA) in science, law, economics, government or public policy from an accredited school required. Advanced degree preferred;
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, UK NHS Institutions and UK healthcare, industry and regulatory policy; Strong political insight
