Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a HOUSING INCOME ASSISTANT, details as follows

**Job Purpose**

The Housing Income Assistant will support the team in carrying out their duties in relation to collection of all income and charges owed to the housing service.

**Responsibilities**
- To assist the Leasehold Management Officer in setting charges, invoicing and collecting all charges due from leaseholders. This includes dealing with queries from leaseholders and advising them on payment options utilising correspondence, e mail or by telephoneand advising them of sources of external support e.g. CAB and Credit Union
- To assist the Housing Officers in carrying out legal action for rent arrears by collating information, completing forms and submitting paperwork to court in an accurate and timely manner for possession cases, injunctions and warrants for eviction.
- To be the lead officer in housing management for coordinating access to properties for capital improvements including annual gas servicing. This includes liaison with colleagues in housing and asset management teams, contacting tenants who refuse or donot reply to requests for access and referring cases to the Senior Housing Income Officer where legal action is required.
- To carry out office duty cover dealing with routine queries and concerns raised by tenants and leaseholders either in person or by telephone.
- To support the work of other sections within the housing department in completing arrears recommendations where Housing Officers are on leave or absent due to sickness, raising invoices and collecting income for a variety of reasons including rechargeablerepairs, tenant damage, housing benefit overpayments and other miscellaneous charges. This includes referral to small claims court as necessary.
- To monitor and collect former tenant arrears including referral to external collection agency for tracing and collection where necessary and following departmental procedure for write off where appropriate.

**Essential Requirements**
- Occasional driving and access to a car insured for business purposes.
- To be available outside normal working hours to support departmental responsibilities in accordance with the corporate Emergency Planning and Business Continuity arrangements.
