The Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust (BBCET), in conjunction with Northumbria Healthcare Trust, is delighted to be able to offer a new and exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a small team across its schools.

A need has been identified for enhanced SLT support into BBCET schools to develop universal and targeted interventions for children with speech, language, and communication needs. We are therefore seeking to appoint an experienced Therapist to work with Trust schools across North Tyneside and Northumberland, working alongside school staff to facilitate speech, language and communication development for children across the primary phase, build on existing practice and support the implementation of systems for rapid identification of emerging needs, and the delivery of interventions.
- To enable effective early intervention around speech, language and communication for children, promoting and resulting in best outcomes
- To provide advice and on-going support for teaching staff, teaching support staff and parents to facilitate speech, language and communication development for children within the primary phase across the Bishop Bewick schools of Northumberland and North Tyneside
- To develop partnership working with schools at the universal and targeted levels of intervention, building staff capacity, confidence, knowledge and skills
- To monitor and evaluate the service provision

- To develop and improve the communication skills of patients in the highly specialist clinical area of paediatric complex communication disorders.
- To take a significant role in the development of patient care, policies, procedures and clinical governance activities within the highly specialist clinical area.
- To provide supervision, support and mentoring for other Speech and Language Therapists, students and assistants both locally and regionally.
- To provide specialist training to colleagues across a range of agencies.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
