**JOB TITLE**:Recovery Assistant
**LOCATION**:Southampton

**WEEKLY HOURS**:36 Hours
**WORK PATTERN**:Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

**JOB SUMMARY**:
To assist the Recovery Manager in recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry Debtors and Housing Benefit Overpayments. To deal with public enquiries and operate computer systems associated with Recovery work.

**RESPONSIBILTIES**:

- Maintain computerised and manual records. Create effective instalment arrangements and take appropriate action if not paid. To assist in tracing defaulters. Deal with attachments to earnings and benefit.
- Attend Court to assist Recovery Officers deal with attendees. Deal with Enforcement stage reports and take appropriate action. Set up Direct Debits and deal with rejections & cancellations. Deal with cheques that are returned unpaid by the bank and take appropriate action. Identify suitability for Enforcement Agent action, dispatch Liability Orders electronically & provide notifications of adjustments.
- In the event that an incident has occurred which disrupts the Council's ability to deliver its critical functions, to undertake duties within your competencies in other departments and/or at other locations. To ensure that data quality and integrity is maintained, and that data is processed in accordance with Council policy, the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other legislation. All employees have responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. These responsibilities are laid out in the Council's Health and Safety Policy, available on the Intranet or from Personnel. To undertake any additional duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required from time to time.

**Also, will be required to go through an enhanced DBS check.
