**About the job**

You will deliver a customer focused and efficient service, contributing to the directorate objectives of securing best value support services through the effective management of a portfolio of medium risk/medium value contracts, services and placement options for the children and young people we care for.

Contributing to the management of a portfolio of contracts and placements you will initiate, establish, quality assure, monitor, and review contracts and placements with service providers.

You will also advise and support senior managers and contract & commissioning officers in the promotion of innovative contracting through the strategic review of contracts in line with national policy and to meet need.

Working with a range of other WSCC services, you will make a real difference to the lives of children and young people we care for by seeking the best available placements and support services.

**What you’ll need to succeed**

You will understand the needs of children and young people we care for and have a genuine enthusiasm to be part of a busy team focussed on commissioning, procuring, identifying, and reviewing appropriate services and placements to deliver ambitious outcomes.

You will have the ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with a range of customers and providers, and as an effective communicator, you will have the confidence and ability to challenge and have difficult conversations.

You will enjoy working operationally. You will have an eye for detail and be able to understand and analyse referrals, data, specifications, and contract documents, while being able to present information clearly and concisely.

You will be able to coach, mentor, motivate, develop and inspire others to deliver effective, high-quality services for children and young people and their families. You will be able to reflect on your own practice and to learn from experience to enhance your own professional development.

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- Degree or equivalent qualification or significant experience in brokerage / contract management, demonstrating that level of applied knowledge in researching, analysing, and evaluating information.
- Significant experience in brokerage / procurement or contract management demonstrated by monitoring and /or managing complex contracts effectively to ensure they meet customer’s requirements and business need.
- Relevant advanced theoretical or organisational knowledge of systems, procedures and policies associated with operating a demanding procurement/contract management service.
- Knowledge of Children’s Services and the associated provider market would be advantageous - _**Desirable**_
- Experience of providing mentoring / coaching / on-the-job training to colleagues to maximise their specific capabilities and to meet objectives.
- Experience of working as part of a team, independently and with a range of professional groups.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £18.00-£18.50 per hour
