Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is one of the world's leading independent policy institutes with a reputation for tackling the hardest problems of international relations that stretches back more than a century. Based in London with a global outreach, we aim to help build a secure, sustainable, prosperous and just world. We pursue our mission through convening meetings and speakers, private dialogue, world leading analysis and solutions-based ideas, and look to help the next generation as well in building a better world.

We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to develop a new research agenda for our Europe Programme. This is an outstanding opportunity for a high-impact, creative and policy-oriented expert to be an active member of a world leading research institute. For many years our Europe Programme has published impactful analysis of major trends on the continent, its multilateral institutions, and the UK’s position in relation to them. The programme has worked on issues such as the state of democracy in Europe, European relations with China, European defence cooperation and the place of neighbourhood states such as Turkey in relation to the European Union.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to provide analysis on a wide range of European policy issues, in collaboration with other programmes and an extensive network of Associate Fellows.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

- Represent and promote the institute at internal and external meetings as appropriate
- Identify and pursue opportunities for communication and dissemination of project findings, through seminars, workshops, publications and online resources
- Gain appropriate publicity and visibility for activities and research through the website and on the media, UK and international; using social media to this end

**People**
- Maintain and build on the programme’s external support network of Associate Fellows, Visiting Fellows, and Consulting Fellows
- Collaborate across teams, working with partners across the institute within research and operations driving efficiencies and knowledge sharing

**Strategy**
- Take forward the work of the Europe Programme, in line with Chatham House's strategy, working closely with the institute’s Director and our UK in the World Programme
- Shape the research agenda of the programme, setting the questions it seeks to answer beyond 2023
- Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy to support this research agenda
- Raise the profile of the programme, and the institute, through the development of strong networks in Brussels and the major capitals of Europe
- Identify and develop links with new voices from across Europe and its neighbourhood (including Turkey, the Southern Mediterranean and Eastern Partnership countries)
- Work closely with Chatham House’s other programmes to collaborate on cross-cutting areas of interest

**Requirements**:
**Skills and experience**
- An established and influential thought leader in the field of European foreign, economic or security policy with a consistent record of successfully leading the delivery of substantial research outputs
- A proficient author with excellent communication skills and the proven ability to adapt to different audiences
- A record of planning and leading research projects with tight budgets and timeframes
