Activities Co-ordinator

**Hours**: 30 hours per week, spread over 5 days within a 7-day period
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our team at a residential EMI home. As an Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of our residents.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Develop and implement a diverse range of activities, programs, and events to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being among residents.
2. Conduct assessments of residents' interests, abilities, and needs to personalize activity plans and ensure inclusivity.
3. Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and external resources to provide a variety of stimulating activities, including arts and crafts, games, outings, music therapy, and sensory stimulation.
4. Maintain accurate records of activity attendance, participation levels, and resident feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
5. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages social interaction, friendship, and a sense of community among residents.
6. Collaborate with other departments, such as carers and therapy teams, to integrate activities into individual care plans and promote holistic resident care.
7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and risk assessments during activity planning and execution.
8. Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in therapeutic recreation and dementia care to continually enhance the quality of our activity programs.
9. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, demonstrating empathy, patience, and respect for their dignity and autonomy.
10. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews as required.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Previous experience working with older adults, particularly those with dementia or cognitive impairments, is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for enriching the lives of seniors through meaningful activities and social engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to develop innovative activity ideas and overcome challenges.
- Basic computer literacy for maintaining activity records and communicating with team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- A compassionate and patient demeanour, with a sense of humour and are able to have fun with our residents with a commitment to providing person-centred care.
**Salary**: £11.00 per hour
