Greenacre are pleased to be partnering with Dacorum Borough Council to source and attract a new Head of Safe Communities who will be responsible for delivering a high quality and consistent customer focused service, providing expert advice to officers, members, licensees, tenants, leaseholders, occupiers of Council managed property, residents, and other key stakeholders.

***The Role**

Sitting within Housing Services, the Head of Safe Communities will be responsible for leading, managing and developing a team within the Resident Services Directorate, with a particular focus on supporting the Assistant Director - Housing Operations and Safe Communities to deliver the corporate vision, values and strategic priorities of the Council. You will also
- Be responsible for leading, managing and developing Community Safety, Statutory Homelessness and Prevention Initiatives and Private Sector Housing Standards services and teams.
- Provide a resident focused service that improves community cohesion and feelings of safety and delivers effective crime reduction services as well as developing and supporting key partnerships.
- Lead the Council’s work to improve the overall quality, safety, and choice of housing accommodation in the Borough, and the service provided to all stakeholders including landlords and tenants in the private housing sector through the use of a range of intervention strategies, including property licensing, enforcement, education, advice, and informal action.
- Ensure that the corporate customer service channels/processes meet existing and emerging customer needs/expectations and reflect a positive customer journey experience and identify and deliver opportunities for efficiencies through channel shift.
- Champion and drive through workforce and organisational development / change / transformation across the whole Council, demonstrating corporate leadership, and provide opportunities for staff to be engaged on a range of corporate issues and actively promote a culture of employee wellbeing, respect, and support.

**What you will bring to Dacorum**
- A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience and continued development.
- A proven track record of managing health and safety and legal compliance across service teams.
- Experience in managing relevant front line operational teams and supporting community safety, homelessness, private sector housing standards engagement and consultation.
- Experience of successfully identifying and delivering service improvements and annual performance objectives/targets (service and individual).
- The ability to translate organisational objectives into focused projects and service deliverables for the teams covered by this role and remove barriers to performance.
- Evidence of a clear focus on excellent customer-service delivery within a place-based context.
- Experience of working effectively within a political environment (politically sensitive)
- Evidence of creating a supportive environment that promotes empathy, respect, honesty, and integrity within teams and across services.
- Experience of managing budgets and delivering services within agreed budgetary provision.
- The ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels within the Council.
