Within the Energy Control Centre (ECC) we are currently recruiting for a shift control manager to join our team who will be responsible for the real time control and integrity of the Cadent gas distribution systems Networks, ensuring system safety and securityare always maintained. The role will include the management of a shift operations team including working a morning and afternoon shift rota during which the manager is responsible for supervising shift operations.
An awareness of internal and external stakeholders, commercial, legislative, and regulatory obligations, process excellence and customer focus are beneficial attributes for the role.
**Day to Day activities can include**:
- Engagement and collaboration within both the ECC leadership team and the shift day teams ensuring ECC objectives are effectively delivered.
- Engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders by sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practice for both existing processes and future ECC and Cadent ambitions.
- Managing and leading successful teams by supervising, supporting, guiding, and motivating both the Shift Control Engineers within 24/7 shift and the day office staff.
- Standby Rota. The shift control manager will be required to manage emergencies, undertake full shift cover of the manager position within the control room until the next working day or shift. In periods of high demand or where necessary the control roomStandby Manager may be required to attend the Control Room to support operations.
Management of daily operational activities including accurate demand and offtake flow forecasting, offtake flow limits, daily balancing, alarm management, commercial activities and accurate data and information recording.
Management of daily non-operational activities including process governance, maintaining staff competency and performance, contractual obligations including UNC/OAD and Network Exit and Entry agreements, operational performance management and reviews andchange management, including process and system development.
Management of unplanned events including asset failure and Gas Supply Emergencies.
**Qualifications**
- HNC (or working towards) or equivalent experience. (Essential)
- Recognised management qualification. (Desirable)
- CEng/IEng or working towards.
**What you will bring**
- Excellent engagement and team working skills
- Previous control room or operational experience.
- Understanding of contractual obligations of Uniform Network Code, Network Entry and Exit Agreements (training will be provided)
- Understanding of the High, Medium and Low-pressure networks (training will be provided)
- Experience of Managing and leading teams
- Willingness to work under pressure
- Open minding and willing to challenge - Thinking outside the box
