Apprentice Dog Groomer

As an apprentice, you will work closely with our experienced groomers and receive comprehensive training that will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to excel in this rewarding career.

Duties to include but not limited to;
- Assist senior groomers with all aspects of dog grooming, including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, and styling.
- Learn to handle and care for dogs of all breeds and sizes in a safe and compassionate manner.
- Maintain a clean and organised grooming area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Engage with clients professionally, providing excellent customer service and addressing any queries.
- Monitor the condition of grooming equipment and report any issues to senior staff.
- Attend and actively participate in training sessions to develop your grooming skills and knowledge.

Working on a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern to allow for a better work/ life balance and allow time to rest in between blocks of busy days in the salon.

**Desired Skills and Qualities**
- A genuine love for dogs and a keen interest in animal care.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Physically fit, with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift medium to large dogs
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
- No prior experience in grooming is required, but any previous experience with animals will be beneficial.
- A good standard of education, preferably with GCSEs in English and Mathematics grade c/4 desirable but not essential. Applicant must not already a level 2 or higher in dog grooming.

**Possible Progression**
- Career in the dog grooming industry.

**Training**
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
