What you will be doing:
In this role, you will assist the Group’s payment processing and accounts payable facilities within a strong control environment. This will involve line management for a team and close liaison with the Finance team at the Bank’s offshore service centre in India.

Your responsibilities will include
- Assist the Payments Manager with the administration of Faster Payments, CHAPs and manual cheque payments for all departments and ensure the correct protocol and procedures are followed at all times, completing all first line authorisation to ensure details have been input and recorded correctly
- Ensure all inward queries received by the Team are investigated and responded to in a timely manner
- Assist with queries for the Group’s purchase order system, Proactis, raising Pos for the Finance department
- Assist with reporting on payment practices and performance in line with legislation
- Assist the Payments Manager for ensuring the Team’s policies and procedures are kept up to date and regular reviews are carried out at least annually
- Assist the Payments Manager on all banking related projects and processes, continually looking to enhance and utilise latest technologies in the group in order to maximise control and payment processing and accounts payable efficiencies.

In return for your commitment:
We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £33,000 - £37,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

Could you be the one?:
We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

- Previous experience in a Payments team is essential, within a Financial Services environment is desirable
- Previous experience managing staff is essential
- Previous experience using Bankline, Barclays.Net, Proactis and SUN or similar software is desirable
- Detailed knowledge of the banking industry payment methods and deadlines is essential
- Good level of competency in Microsoft Word and Excel skills is essential
- Detailed knowledge of Accounts Payable essential
- Basic knowledge of Sun Systems and NatWest Bankline and Barclays.Net is desirable
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact with people at all levels in an organisation is essential
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet intraday deadlines is essential
- Taking ownership of all tasks and seeing through to completion, including follow up on any issues that arise within the team is essential
- Ability to lead, coach and develop direct reports is essential
- GSCE/GCE qualifications in both maths and English are essential
