**JOB TITLE**:Depden Care Farm Programme Leader**

**Tuesday to Thursday 9am - 4pm.**

**Part time.**

**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Director

**1. Job Purpose**:
To contribute to the day to day running of the farm and deliver high quality, effective and responsive support to enable service users to successfully participate in the day’s programme.

**2. Key tasks and responsibilities**

1) Work with the Director and other Programme Leaders to devise an appropriate programme of suitable activities that meet customer goals.

2) Supporting and leading customers to successfully and safely participate in the activities and tasks on the farm (the programme), according to their recognised needs and their personal goals.

3) Working one to one with particular service users as required, building a strong working relationship to ensure that they participate actively to the best of their abilities.

4) To work with customers to recognise, record and celebrate their achievements as they work towards their personal goals.

5) Adhering to company practice and policy which promotes well-being, choice and treats everyone with dignity and respect.

6) Complying with all safeguarding, health and safety and security policies and reporting accidents and incidents when appropriate.

7) Communicating effectively with individuals according to agreed standards and procedures, accessing and updating records in keeping with guidelines and policy.

8) Assist service users to develop skills and knowledge to live as independently as possible, developing and maintaining social networks and relationships and promoting social inclusion and participation in the local community.

9) Contribute to the development of Depden Care Farm and Millennium Farm Trust which runs it.

10) Develop one’s knowledge and practice continuously through participation in training and development activities.

**Qualifications/Training/Education**:
Essential
- Good written and spoken English and good numeracy.
- Current driving licence

Desirable
- Qualification in social care, eg SVQ2 or SVQ3
- Agricultural or land-based certification

**Experience**:
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of and interest in working in an outside environment (eg farming, gardening or conservation, land management, outdoor pursuits, forestry, building trade, groundworks, or similar outdoor setting.)
- Experience of leading, teaching, mentoring or guiding small groups of people in delivering tasks.

Desirable
- Experience of supporting adults, young people or children with learning disabilities or additional needs.
- Experience of animal husbandry, market gardening or growing crops for retail.
- Experience of grounds maintenance, hard landscaping and small scale building works.

**Skills and Knowledge**:
Essential
- Excellent communication skills, tactful but able to be a straight talker when necessary.
- Able to work as part of team, understanding that different skill sets, whether from staff or customers, contribute to the whole.
- Ability to build good working relationships with people based on respect and listening.
- Able to lead people effectively to deliver defined goals.
- Demonstrable team player with flexibility to work alone when with a degree of autonomy.
- Ability to support people to participate in the activities and learn new skills
- Proficient IT skills in order to record achievements, update support plans and risk assessments
- Demonstrable evidence of taking responsibility and delivering people centred outcomes

Desirable
- Ability to build good working relationships with adults with learning disabilities and/or additional needs based on respect and listening
- Ability to support someone 1-1 including managing any behaviour that challenges
- Knowledge of autism and non-verbal communication
- Social media skills

**4. Conditions of service**

Post: Farm Programme Leader PART TIME

Location: Depden Care Farm, Rookery Farm, Depden, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 4BU. Travel to other farms and locations will be necessary on occasions. Travel expenses will be paid.

Hours: Hours will be 9.00am to 4.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

**Salary**: £13.26/hour. Salary is paid one month in arrears by BACS within 5 working days of the last Friday of the month.
