Bridgwater Community Hospital has 30 inpatient beds providing rehabilitation, general medical and palliative care in a community setting across a seven day working week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen on Waverley ward Bridgwater Community Hospital for a Band 3 Ward Administrator to work alongside a small team of administrators ensuring cover across the seven day working week. This post can be for 30 - 37.5 hours per week and includes some weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis

The post holder will provide administration assistance to the Senior Ward Sister, nursing and rehabilitation team within Bridgwater Community Hospital to ensure the smooth running of the inpatient ward and administrative service.

The main duties of a ward clerk include
- Providing clerical support and reception duties to Waverley Ward under the direction of the Senior Ward Sister or Nurse in Charge
- To assist, support and provide clerical support for the nursing team which includes GPs and Rehabilitation
- To follow Trust policies to ensure service needs are met

**The main responsibilities of this role include**:

- Supporting the ward Sister within an administrative role
- Arranging admissions, transfers and discharges of patients.
- Answering the telephone to internal and external calls dealing with queries from consultants, GPs, social workers, care homes and other Trust staff.
- Dealing with medical records and keeping patient records updated.
- Giving non-clinical advice to patients, their family and friends.
- Organising patient transport.
- Contacting other departments and companies for specialist equipment hire.
- Maintaining the ward diary.
- Arranging transport for urgent samples to Acute hospitals.
- Maintaining stationery and ward supplies.

There will be bank holiday and some weekend work.
