Receptionist- Social Services

The post holder will cover the reception desk in the Social Services Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, providing a high quality service to all customers both internal an external to the Trust. They will be responsible for supporting the provision of the seamless service to patients and the Social work staff, greeting all patients and visitors in a friendly and polite manner

1. Demonstrate high levels of customer care and be an ambassador for customer care within the Trust.
2. Provide a robust administration function that underpins the delivery, of a high-quality service and maintain effective working relationships with clinical, nursing, and administrative staff.
4.To Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
7. Take responsibility for all communications received and distribute appropriately to the clinical and administrative staff within the service.
11. Attend Departmental meetings and training as required to ensure that you maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of service and trust procedures
12. Act in a manner aligned to our Trust Values and consistently demonstrate the behaviours that will ensure we achieve our ambition of delivering compassionate excellence.
13. Any other duties at the request of the departmental managers, which may be needed to fulfil the objectives of the post, which are appropriate to the grade

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

1. Act as the first point of contact for patients and visitors to the department.
2. Provide comprehensive reception support, to include taking messages and using the department technology.
3. Deal with patient enquiries in a sympathetic and confidential manner, signposting people appropriately, maintaining, a high standard of customer care, always.
4. Update Oxfordshire County Council patient information system to ensure accurate patient information is recorded.
5. Responsible for the accurate booking, amending, and checking in and out of all department appointments.

6. Retrieve and print reports, ward lists and ensure all patient information is available in a timely manner for all the social workers.
7. Maintain and distribute the departments leaflets and literature, to staff and clients when required
8 Update and maintain the departments staff Whereabouts whiteboard
9. Send out to clients any assessments requested from the social workers.
10. To help and support the Duty Social workers, with messages, calls and system input.
